Firing, stemped during Bannu peace march kill one, injuries 23: Minister
BANNU (APP): At least one person was killed and 23 other injured due to firing and stemped during peace march here Friday, KP minister and police said.
A large number of people were gathered at Bannu City for a peace march and were chanting slogans against terrorism. The stemped caused by gunshots during the march have left one person dead and 23 others injured who were hospitalized.
Pakhtoon Yar Khan, provincial minister for public health engineering also confirmed the death of one person and injuries of 23 others.
Takling to media here, the Minister said that shots were fired by those who want to destroy peace of Bannu and people would frustrate nefarious designs of the enemy of peace.
The dead identified is Saadullah Khan (23) son of Momin Shah, resident of Methakhel Bannu. The injured includes Asadullah, Abdullah, Yasir, Habib, Hayatullah, Amjad, Azizullah, Ahmad, Shakeel and Nazullah.
The injured were immediately shifted to three public sector hospitals for treatment where emergency was imposed.
The minister also visited a hospitals here to enquire about the condition of the injured.
Director General, Health Services Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has declared emergency in all hospitals of Bannu and called medical staff on leave for duty immediately.
The decision has been taken following recommendations of Deputy Commissioner Bannu. Doctors and all medical professionals working in hospitals have been directed to remain alert to deal any emergency in an effective way.
Director Medical Teaching Institute Bannu, Medical Superintendent and District Health Officer have also been directed to liaise with district administration and relief workers to work in a coordinated manner for save human lives during emergencies.
Khyber Pakthunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has announced a compensation package for the deceased and injured of the incident and directed best medical facilities to the victims.
The CM also took serious notice of the gory incident and sought a report from the concerned authorities.

Barrister Dr Muhammad Ali Saif, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Information in a statement here said that Chief Minister KP was personally monitoring the situation in Bannu.
The Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner Bannu held negotiations with protestors and the situation was under-control after talks with the elders.
A complete investigation of the incident would be made and strict punishment would be awarded to the responsible.
Barrister Saif said that peaceful protest was the constitutional and legal right of every citizen and however no would be allowed to take law in hands under guise of protest.
He appealed to people to remain peaceful and avoid taking law in hands.
