    European Parliamentarian Delegation calls on Advisor to PM on Climate Change

    ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minster on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam apprised the delegation of European Parliamentarian that environmental protection and human rights are the top priority of the current government. The European Parliamentarian delegation was comprised of George Philipp Anton Mayer, Jean Lanbert, Javeria Rizvi Kabani and Wajid Khan. The delegation congratulated Mr. Malik Amin Aslam for victory in general election and on his assuming the charge of Adviser to PM on Climate Change. Malik Amin Aslam briefed the delegation about the government initiatives and Ministry of Climate Change program of Clean Green Pakistan. Recalling the Pakistan Tareek Insaaf successful initiatives of billion tree tsunami in the previous government in the province of Khyber Pashtoonkhwa, now the PTI government in the center is implementing the 10 billion tree plantation all over the country in the coming years under the program of Clean Green Pakistan. Highlighting the five pillars of Clean Green Pakistan which included tree plantation, solid waste management, liquid waste management, total sanitation/toilets and safe drinking water, Mr Malik Amin Aslam further stated that the Ministry of Climate Change is seriously concerned about the menace of smog, that comes from across the border and we will raise the issue with India to prevent the burning of crop waste through Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He appraised the delegation about the environmental threat from smog due to several reasons. He further stated that adaptation of new methods in mitigating the adverse impact of smog, we need to look for new methods so that environmental degradation may be alleviated, moreover cooperation from NGOs and Civil Society is very imperative in the implementation of protection and preservation of environment. Highlighting the potential of renewable energy in Pakistan, Malik Amin Aslam emphasized that the government is focused in advancing the production of renewable energy as the geographical location and ecological environment are very conducive to solar and wind energy production in Pakistan.
