PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, has taken notice of the alleged misuse of land allotted for industrial development in the province. He has directed the Chief Secretary to form a task force to probe into the matter. A formal letter has been issued from the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to the Chief Secretary on Wednesday, highlighting concerns that land purchased and allocated by the government for industrial purposes remains either unused or reoporyedly being utilized for other purposes.
The letter emphasized that using such lands for other purposes not only deviates from its intended objective but also violates relevant regulations and terms of allotment. To ensure a thorough inquiry, the CM has instructed the formation of a task force comprising officials from the industries, law, and Board of Revenue departments.
The letter suggests that he task force should scrutinize all legal aspects related to land acquisition, awards notification and all the relevant documentation; and present a comprehensive plan with actionable recommendations to Chief Minister for consideration. Moreover it emphasizes a province-wide audit of all land acquired and allotted for industrial development, identifying instances where land has been repurposed adding that legal status of such land must be determined in accordance with existing laws and regulations.
The investigation should also involve consultations with key stakeholders, including local administration, representatives from the industrial sector, and affected landowners. If necessary, recommendations will be made for reclaiming misused land, pursuing legal action, and imposing penalties. Where feasible, plans will be developed to ensure that the land is used for its original industrial purpose.
