PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan, in view of the possible mass scale outbreak of Corona Pandemic during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, has made an appeal to the political leaders and elected public representatives of the province belonging to all political parties to avoid all indoor and outdoor public gatherings/interactions in their Hujras, constituencies and native town/villages during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr so that the possible mass scale outbreak of the pandemic could be contained.
In his appeal to the political leaders and elected public representatives, the Chief Minister has said that prevailing situation of Corona in the province is worrisome, and it is likely to worsen during Eid because of frequent public interaction, and therefore, political leaders and elected public representatives should avoid public gatherings/interactions and urge others to follow the same adding that political leaders being opinions makers, should play their important role in persuading the general masses to strictly adhere to the Standard Operating Procedure to contain further outbreak of the pandemic.
The Chief Minister said that Corona pandemic was not an issue of the government or a particular political party alone rather it was a national and collective issue which needed collective efforts to be dealt with effectively, and added that the role of political leaders is of pivotal importance in this regard. Mahmood Khan maintained that the government was taking all necessary steps to contain the outbreak of the epidemic on the eve of Eid, but the government’s efforts would not yield the desired results without the cooperation of political leaders and elected public representatives. He hoped that all the political leaders and elected public representatives of the province would extend full cooperation in this regard and play their important role in ensuring implementation of Corona SOPs during the upcoming Eid festival.

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan on Saturday paid a surprise visit to district Swat. The Chief Minister visited Kanju Police Station Swat without any security escort and protocol. He checked all the records of the police station, visited its various sections, met the detainees and inquired about the behavior of police. He also met with the visitors there and got information about their issues. The Chief Minister directed the incharge of the police station for necessary steps to resolve the issues of the visitors on urgent basis and report to him accordingly. He directed the police personnel to have public friendly behavior with the visitors and the general public so that public confidence on police system could be restored fully. He said that police was responsible for the safety of the public adding that it should come upto the expectations of the general public in this regard.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister, without any security escort and protocol also visited various public places in Swat to take stock of the implementation of government’s instructions to provide relief to the public as well as implementation of Corona SOPs. Talking on this occasion he said that the provincial government was making serious efforts to give maximum relief to the people during the holy month of Ramzan adding that the benefits of government’s efforts should reach the common man. He made it clear that local administrations should discharge their responsibilities admirably to give relief to the public and added that action would be taken against the concerned government officials in case of any laxity and negligence to this effect.
