PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Pervez Khattak has assured releasing Rs. 7 billion for developmental schemes throughout the province. His government initiated mega projects in road communications integrating different regions of the province that will cost Rs. 80 billion, out of which Rs. 40 billion have been released. The provincial government has also released Rs. One billion for irrigation schemes this month and another matching release would be made in the coming month, he added. He assured that his government would initiate projects worth Rs. 22 billion through a uniform approach in the whole of the province. He directed to finalize a comprehensive case for giving monthly stipend to “Paish Imam” and solarization of mosques throughout the province.
Pervez Khattak hinted at the inter connectivity of Swat Kalam to Dir Kumrat through road communication integrating different vallies to develop them on tourism lines. Once develop, this would become the most feasible tourists spot of the entire region, he added.
He was talking to a representative delegation of J.I. Ministers led by Minister for LG Inayatullah at Chief Minister House Peshawar. Provincial Ministers and MPAs were also present at the occasion.
The Chief Minister said that the developmental strategy would carry the element of transparency and merit-base projects adding that the resources being allocated to the developmental strategy would be transparent, need driven and the spending of resources should benefit the neglected population of the province. This approach, he added, made a big difference. Now, the government is represented by the whole of the cabinet, the resource allocation formula is made through collective approach that was a transparent and pro people approach and was missing in the past. He assured that each and every area of the province would get its share in the resource distribution, developmental schemes and uplifting the life of the people. He assured that the released resources of Rs. 7 billion would be equally distributed among the areas of the province with focus on allocating lions’ share to the backward districts and areas of the province.
Chief Minister directed to finalize a comprehensive scheme for the provision of monthly stipend to the Paish Imam of mosques and solarization of mosques throughout the province. He also directed the MPAs to prepare their projects of their respective areas with focus on projects of electricity, suigas and solarization as the people of the province suffered because of the unjust policies of the WAPDA subjecting the people to disproportionate and unbearable loadshedding in the province.
Pervez Khattak reminded the delegation that his government had started big projects of communication network with an allocation of Rs. 80 billion out of which Rs. 40 billion had already been released. This approach is based on merit with transparency visible at all stages of development. He assured equal distribution formula for resource allocation throughout the province.
Chief Minister directed for the finalization of non ADP schools projects adding that he would convene a meeting soon to approve these projects meeting the set criteria.
Pervez Khattak said he released Rs. One million for projects in irrigation sector and another matching resources were being issued in the coming month.
Chief Minister said his government would provide Rs. 22 billion for different projects in different sectors to be put on ground through the implementing agencies and departments. These projects would be need driven, the resource distribution formula would be transparent and the focus would be on projects lagging behind in the developmental race. He directed the education department to put on ground its schemes as the resources were already available and should be spent transparently. He was optimistic that the developmental strategy would bring about a visible change in the outlook of the province.
