CHITRAL: Chitral Police halted the smuggling of a large quantity charas weighing 41.87 kg at Garam Chashma near the Afghan border Gobor and arrested Khosh Diyar and his accomplice and son Zafar Ahmed here on Wednesday.
District police officer captain (retired) Furqan Bilal told Chitral Times that the accused is believed to be a part of gang which has resorted to use the Afghan route via Shah Saleem Pass after strict vigilance was started to be kept in the southern routes entering the district.
He said that the gang of drug smugglers using the border routes will be busted soon on the basis of the information gathered recently which led to the halting of the charas in large quantity in the history of the area.
Mr. Bilal said that the police is showing zero tolerance towards the drug peddlers and scores of peddlers had been arrested red-handed in different areas of the district.
He asked the people to extend full support to the force to smash the network of the drug peddlers which had been organized over the years and give information about any activity of drug pushing.
