CHITRAL: In the hotly contested bye-election to Oveer ward of zilla council Chitral held here on Sunday, Habibuddin of MMA beat the Javed Iqbal of PTI by a close difference of 21 votes.
The returning officer and assistant commissioner Chitral Alamgir told Chitral Times that as per unofficial results Habibuddin got 1831 votes against 1810 of Javed Iqbal while the total number of votes was 10352 out of which 3641 polled their votes with 35 percent as turn out rate.
He said that twelve polling stations had been established for the election with 29 numbers of polling booths and the elections were held in a peaceful manner.
The seat had fallen vacant when Abdul Latif of PTI resigned in June last to contest the election for National Seat from Chitral.
