    Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance (BHA)/USAID funded Project launched

    Peshawar – The launch of the Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA)/USAID funded 8 months’ emergency project “Reducing Food Insecurity of the Most Vulnerable Affected Groups in Pakistan” was officially marked by ACTED this Tuesday at a project launch event held in Pearl Continental Hotel, Peshawar. The overall objective of the project is to respond to the food insecurity of vulnerable households caused by COVID-19 pandemic in district Umerkot (Sindh) and Rural Peshawar (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa).

    The launch event was chaired by Director Disaster Risk Management (DRM), Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) KP, Ms. Zuhra Nigar. While talking about the significance of the project, Director PDMA appreciated the work of ACTED and USAID in helping people in need. She also requested USAID to extend its support throughout Peshawar in eradicating food insecurity.

    The US Counsel, Mr. Gregory Macris, also shared his comments through a video message and assured the commitment of USAID to eliminate food insecurity in Pakistan. He praised the work of the government of Pakistan and their outstanding contribution in terms of EHSAAS program launched by the government to support those affected by COVID-19.

    The event was attended by other government officials, including the additional Secretary of Social welfare, the Additional Secretary of Tourism, the Deputy Director of PDMA, the Director of Social Welfare as well as UN/humanitarian actors, media personnel and beneficiaries from the communities.

    ACTED is responding to the sufferings, protecting from disasters and empowering vulnerable communities to transform their lives around the country since 2005.
