Baluchistan’s present and what needs to be done – SAMI ULLAH KHAN
As the local people have somehow adapted themselves to crises, and remain mostly await for the next dilemma to come. The educated youth, who understand human rights , mostly shift themselves into hibernation, to avoid forced disappearances, the workers, and peasants are constantly observing as a silent spectators, when their resources are being exploited without giving them a penny, AIDS cases is surging with the passing seconds and already 7 thousands cases have been reported according to a recent report, and these patients are waiting for care providers so that they can look forward in the modern race of life.
Protests against the government and establishment have been their daily exercise, but the result of these protests are worthless, as the robust institutions do not hesitate to use power against the peaceful protestor. There is no door left for them where they can knock and ask for their rights which the Constitution of Pakistan granted to them.
The problems are not limited to above mentioned. Recently due to the poor management and carelessness of local government the floods have wreaked havoc all over the province. Agricultural lands were Barren by the merciless flood, homes were blown away, their connecting roads were demolished , and many people kicked the bucket, and yet surprisingly the provincial government and federal government have only limited themselves to words .
This kind of negligence and unnecessary use of power by the institutions and government are only fueling extremism and providing extremists with an opportunity to be the real protector of Baloch’s rights. The extremist group seems brawny as they have already taken responsibility for the deadly attack on the Chinese citizen at Karachi university and in kpk’s Dasu region.
Apart from that, they( extremist) have been constantly jostling the security forces to leave Baluchistan, and If they get the full support of Baloch then they will not fear in implementing there evil will.
Now the incumbent Government in Balochistan and in the centre and all the institutions, including the military, judiciary and bureaucracy must unite on one page to put an end to the growing instigation against Pakistan, and let Baloch feel safe in the territory of Pakistan. There are some steps following them the government can dwindle the growing mistrust.
First, the forced disappearance should come to an end, all those who are in custody must be freed and pledges should be given to the locals that these kinds of heinous activities will never happen again.
Secondly, Baloch should be the first to get benefit from their resources. In Gawadar, the growing industrial Hub , peoples from Baluchistan should be given priority , their protection should be gurranted , and there should be a profit percentage which will be shared between the Balochistan people and the federal government.
Thirdly Modern schools and colleges should be constructed and able teachers should be allocated , so that the people can learn how and why the extremist are constantly blackmailing the local government and establishment ,what are the tactics they used? and how they can wear the blanket of missercibility to make the local fool? .
And lastly, the illegal influx of people from Afghanistan and Iran should be banned, as these countries provide launching pad and weapon of war to the extremists. Moreover formulate such strategies with the assistant of them either compel extremists to the table or cut off from the roots by launching full scale war .
The growing extremism in Baluchistan is getting out of control, and if the government doesn’t give close ear to this growing meance ,then things will go the stage from where recovery will be unmanageable and we may witness crises like east Pakistan disintegration, which exactly happened 50 year ago on this day 15 December 1971.
