CHITRAL: The owners of auto mobile workshops in Chitral city have demanded of the government to make their work places safe by making proper system of solid and fluid waste management produced by the workshops.
Talking to the local media here, the president of the association of auto mobile workshop workers Esa Ali Khan said that the unhygienic condition in their work places was not only health hazard for them but it caused to pollute the other parts of the town.
They said that the landlords of the workshops did not provide proper places for the disposal of waste which is produced in large quantity on daily basis and the fluid portion of the waste ultimately polluted the river water.
He complained that despite their repeated requests, the tehsil municipal administration’s sanitary staff did never came to the workshops situated in Denin, Krup Risht and Polo Ground road.
He said that the TMA has also repetitively ignored their requests for providing line for safe drinking water in the workshop areas where contaminated water is consumed by the workers due to which many of them have contracted diseases and the rest of them at high risk.
Mr. Khan said that the TMA is duty bound to impel the landlords to provide proper number of toilets in the workshops which they have always denied to the tenants who are served eviction notice by the landlords when they demand for it.
