CHITRAL; Upper parts of Chitral including Baroghil, Yarkhoon, Terich, Oveer, Gobor and Arkari areas received snow as a result of intermittent rainfall during the last two days after a dry spell of a month here on Wednesday.
Light rains lashed the lower parts of the district on Wednesday which is still in the grip of high density clouds while raining any more can snowfall due to the prevalence of low temperature and cold.
The vehicular traffic on the roads leading to different remote valleys of Rech, Shagrom, Melp, Shongush and Lonkoh Gol remained closed while the bazaar in the city and the governemnt offices wore a deserted look as the people confined to their homes to escape the cold.
Due to the completion of the Lowari tunnel the passengers coming and going to and from Chitral were least affected while the district kept on receiving uninterrupted power supply due to the wet commissiong of Golen Gol hydro power station completed recently.
In the past, Chitral used to be disconnected from the national grid as a result of snowfall in the Lowari top leaving the district without electricity for many weeks when the transmission lines were restored.
