CHITRAL: The triumphant team of Chitral in the Shandur Polo Festival 2019 was received by the joyous and festive polo fans in Booni town here on Wednesday when it reached there along with the trophy led by its skipper Shahzada Sikandarul Mulk.
Thousands of people from different parts of Upper Chitral including Mulkhow, Kosht, Oveer, Terich, Torkhow and Reshun to give a tumultuous welcome to the polo team of Chitral which had won it against the GB for the sixth time in series.
The polo fans showered rose petals on the team members standing in a long queue while the team entered the town in the beat of drums with the youngsters dancing to its tune.
The deputy commissioner of Upper Chitral, Shah Saud welcomed the team in Booni Chowk and appreciated the team members for their extraordinary performance in the cut-throat competition with its arch rival GB.
Earlier, the team was received in the zealous manner in Mastuj town while the team will reach Chitral in three days staying in different villages spending to amuse the polo fans.
While talking to Dawn, the skipper of Chitral team, Shahzada Sikandar said that the red carpet welcome by the people of Chitral to the polo team while returning from Shandur fills them with enthusiasm and zeals and it is the driving force behind their victory in the highest pologround of the world every year.
