KPCTA Board decides to increase the salaries of Tourism Police
PESHAWAR (APP): The sixth meeting of the board of directors of the KP Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) was held under the chairmanship of Malik Adeel Iqbal, special assistant to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Tourism and Culture, Archaeology and Museums on Wednesday.
The meeting took important decisions aimed at promoting tourism in the province and improving the performance and affairs of the authority.
Member of the provincial assembly and parliamentary secretary for tourism and culture Fateh-ul-Mulk Ali Nasir, secretary tourism and culture department Saadat Hassan, director general culture and tourism authority Shahid Khan, and other members of the Board attended the meeting.
The meeting conducted a detailed review of the implementation of decisions taken during the fifth meeting of the Board of Directors. The Culture and Tourism Authority’s budget for the financial year 2026–27 was also presented. After detailed deliberations, the Board approved the budget.
The Board also decided to increase the salaries of the tourism police. Special Assistant Malik Adeel Iqbal directed the Authority to reduce expenditures and ensure the efficient and optimal utilization of available resources.
The meeting also directed that paragliding activities be launched in the province. It was further directed that a clause providing for an annual increase in lease rates be incorporated into agreements for government properties leased out to private parties.
The board approved the outsourcing of camping pods and rest houses, with the matter referred to the technical committee for further consideration. Special Assistant Malik Adeel Iqbal directed that the better utilization of government properties be ensured and that the relevant rules be further improved in this regard.
The meeting also decided to establish a tourism and hospitality advisory committee, comprising 16 members. The committee will present recommendations for improving the tourism and hospitality sectors.
The meeting approved the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Boating Safety Regulations 2026. The new regulations clearly define the procedures for the registration, licensing, fitness certification, and operation of tourism boats in the province. The regulations aim to regulate boating activities while ensuring the safety of tourists and local residents.
