CHITRAL: A protest procession was taken out by hundreds of the residents of Sonoghur and Parwak villages here on Saturday against the unscheduled load shedding in the area which later on converted into a meeting addressed by the protesters.
The speakers including the village nazim Wore Muhammad, naib nazim Eid Ali, councilor Isa Wali Khan and others criticized the government for its failure to provide electricity to the district despite the galore of electricity received from Golen Gol hydro power station.
They alleged that the Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) is deliberately making the load shedding extending to 20 hours on daily basis to alienate the people from the government which has crippled the public life activities.
They said that PEDO had no justification even for an outage of even one hour daily as the electricity is provided from the Golen Gol hydro power project is incessant and without any break.
They also warned that if the situation is not improved within a week time, then the people will turn to violence and block the road leading to Shandur and Baroghil.
The protesters said that the resident engineer of PEDO meant for upper Chitral is absenting himself from the duty for the last one year and there is no senior staff present to supervise the transmission and distribution process.
They also complained that the fictitious and excessive bills are sent to the consumers every month without any meter reading as the organization has no meter readers posted in upper Chitral.

Meanwhile a same protest rally also held in Werkup village of Torkhow. The people of Torkhow and Mulkhow participated in the protest rally.
