Three persons including a woman brutally murdered in Arandu Chitral

CHITRAL: In a triple-murder incident, three persons including a woman have been shot dead in Lachigram village of the border area Damil of Chitral here on Sunday afternoon.
District police officer, Lower Chitral Riffat Ullah Khan told Chitral Times that initially, it is an honor killing incident in which one Jalabib Khan has killed his brother Ismail Khan, his daughter-in-law named Hanifa Bibi and an infant baby Dilshad.
He said that the murdered woman was the ex-wife of the alleged killer and was divorced after she was found having illicit relations with his nephew Umar Khan who has left the area and is living in Peshawar since then.
He said that the after the incident, the accused and his brother had reached a compromise with the efforts of local jirga and as a settlement, a sum of Rs. 1 million was to be paid to the accused by his brother but it was still to be materialized marking him frustrated and infuriated.
The DPO said that the accused had made an abortive attempt of murder in the recent past but this time he succeeded and targeted his ex-wife and brother inside the house of the latter.
Mr. Khan said that after the incident, the accused fled the scene and has gone on hiding while hectic efforts were being made to arrest him before fleeing into Kunar province of Afghanistan.
“I have dispatched additional contingents of police force including elite force to the area who have cordoned off the area and house to house search was in progress while the personnel of Frontier Corps have also been requested to join the efforts”, he said.
Meanwhile, the postmortem of the dead bodies of the murdered were taken out in tehsil headquarters hospital Drosh and were dispatched back to Damil to be buried on Monday.
