    Income Tax dept. extends awareness campaign to educational institutions for filing income tax returns

    PESHAWAR (APP): The Income Tax Department has extended awareness campaign to educational institutions to appraise academia about signficance of filing income tax returns by October 31 and its utility in the country’s socioeconomic development process.

    Tufail Jaber, Inland Revenue Officer Income Tax Department paid a visit to the University of Technology (UoT) Nowshera where he informed academia and researchers about importance of filing of income tax returns and its significance in the country’s economic growth and development.

    He said holding of the meeting with academics was a part of the awareness campaign launched in Nowshera on the directives of Zaffar Iqbal Khan Chief Commissioner Regional Tax Office Peshawar, Shaheed Mehboob Commissioner IR Mardan Zone Mardan and Muhammad Alam Additional Commissioner IR Mardan Zone Mardan to sensitize people especially academicians about importance of filing of income tax returns.

    The Inland Revenue Officer Nowshera said the filers of income tax returns would get enermous financial benefits in taxes while purchasing properties, vehicles and others business.

    “Taxes are considered to be very crucial for the economy of any country to finance its social projects besides minimizing dependency on foreign loans,” he said.

    “The government requires that people who make a certain amount of money annually file a tax return by the deadline specified. The person is responsible for paying the tax as calculated and the Income Tax Department has the power to impose fines for non filling and unpaid taxes.”

    Earlier, Tufail Jaber held an important meeting with office bearers of Jewelry Association Nowshera and asked them to take full advantage of the Federal Board of Revenue(FBR)’s extension date of income tax returns and submit it by October 31, 2023 as no further extension would be granted.

    The faculty members of University of Nowshera and jewlers association assured full cooperation with FBR regarding filing of income tax returns in large number by the said date.

    They appreciated the campgains and thanked FBR and Income Tax authorities for extending the date to October 31, 2023 that would help bring a large number of people under taxation net.
