    High level Meeting to review progress on donors funded projects in KP held

    PESHAWAR: Work is in progress on 60 different developmental schemes worth Rs. 687 Billion the External Economic Assistance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for which Rs. 89 Billion have been allocated in the Annual Development Program of the current fiscal year. These schemes include Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project, 300 MW Balakot Hydropower Project, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Hydropower and Renewable Energy Development Program and other Important Development Projects in various sectors.

    This was told in a meeting to review progress on donors funded projects held here the other day with Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan in the chair. The participants were briefed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project has been approved by Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) whereas ECNEC has also cleared the PCI of Balakot Hydropower Project and bids has been advertised for the first package of this project.

    It was further informed that under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Roads Improvement Project, seven roads in different districts had been completed whereas work on two roads was in progress. Similarly, under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism Development Project, a master plan has been approved to establish four Tourism Zones at the different sites of the province. Besides feasibility study of Kumrat Cable Car Project was also completed.

    They told that 50 percent work on dualization of Swabi-Mardan Road has been completed adding that Expression of Interest (EoI) has also been finalized for Supervisory Consultant of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Irrigated Agriculture Improvement Project. Under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Hydropower and Renewable Energy Program, land acquisition for 88 MW Kalam-Gabral Hydropower Project is underway. The forum was further informed that work on other development projects including Digital Jobs for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Project was in progress as per stipulated timelines.

    Talking on the occasion, the chief minister has directed the quarter concerned to ensure progress on the projects adding that timely completion of Public Welfare Project was the priority of his government. He said that these projects on completion would have direct positive impact on the lives of general public.
