    High level meeting regarding law and order situation in the KP province held

    PESHAWAR: A high level meeting regarding law & order situation was held here on Monday with Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan in the chair. The meeting reviewed the overall law & order situation in the province with special focus on the unpleasant incident which took place in Mandani area of district Charsadda the other day. High ups of police briefed the participants about the measures taken to control the situation emerged after the incident.

    Chief Secretary Shehzad Khan Bangash, Inspector General Police Muazzam Jah Ansari, Additional Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, Principal Secretary to CM Amjad Ali Khan, Secretary Home Ikram Ullah Khan and other relevant authorities attended the meeting. The participants were told that after the incident of desecration of Holy Quran, a Police station and various police posts were set on fire by a charged mob. They informed that some elements and miscreants incited the people to damage public properties who have been clearly identified.

    It was further informed that the accused of the desecration of Holy Quran had been arrested and a case was also registered against him as per the provision of relevant law. The participants condemned the act of damaging public property by mob and decided to take stern action against the elements involved in the incident. Talking on the occasion, the chief minister said that the desecration of Holy Quran was highly condemnable act adding that the accused would be brought to book. He further stated that those who challenged the writ of government and took the law into their hands would be dealt with iron hands.

    The chief minister directed the police authorities to ensure writ of the government and rule of law at all cost adding that maintaining law & order and protection of public properties was the responsibility of the government which would not be compromised at any cost. The chief minister further directed them to prepare a way forward for effective prevention of such incidents in the future.

    Mahmood Khan said that he was well aware of the sentiments of general public against the desecration of Holy Quran. He appealed to the citizens to be peaceful and let the law to take its course. He said that citizens should stay satisfied, that the person allegedly involved in the desecration of the Holy Quran would be punished when proved guilty in the court of law
