Bidding for Markhor Trophy Hunting conducted-Highest bid offered for Toshi-I area of Chitral

PESHAWAR: Bidding for Markhor Trophy Hunting in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was conducted at Wild Life Department Peshawar today. Registered outfitter from Pakistan including international bidder (Turkish Lady) participated in the bidding process. The highest bid offered by M/S Mehran Safari for USD 160250/-, equivalent to PKR 27116223/- for single Markhor to be hunted at Toshi-I area of district Chitral.
According to a press release this is highest rate ever offered in the history of Markhor Trophy Hunting. The second highest bid offered by M/S Shikar Safari for USD 155100/- equivalent to Rs. 26244781/- for single Markhor to be hunted at Toshi-II, Chitral. Similarly, the third highest bid was offered by M/S Shikar Safari for USD 135150/- which is equivalent to Rs. 22869001/- for a single Markhor to be hunted at Keigah, Kohistan.
Whereas, the fourth highest bid was offered by M/S Shikar Safari for USD 125100/- which is equivalent to Rs. 21168421/- for a single Markhor to be hunted at Gehrait, Chitral. Furthermore, highest bid received for the associated species of Markhor i.e., Himalayan Ibex is USD 3600/- which is equivalent to Rs. 609163/- Eighty percent of the proceeds from such trophy hunting program are distributed among the local communities and the funds are transferred to their bank accounts for community development and wildlife conservation activities in the respective villages.
