CHITRAL: Eight schools in Lower Chitral and two in Upper Chitral were closed down when their students tested positive for the covid-19 while screening of students, teachers and other staff in the schools is continuing.
Deputy district health officer Lower Chitral Dr. Ziaullah Khan told Dawn that 65 students tested positive in the schools which included Government Girls High School Ayun (30), GHS Ashrait (2), GGHS Drosh (8), Government Primary School Kalkatak (5), Frontier Corps Public School Drosh (5), Aga Khan School Uchu (4), AKS Begusht (9) and Al-Nasir School Garma Chashma (2).
District health officer Upper Chitral, Dr. Rahmat Aman said that GHS Drasun and GPS Kushum Bala have been locked down when their students tested positive for the covid-19.
He said that some of the villages in Upper Chitral have been put under observation where lock down will be enforced to contain the spread of coronavirus from the village to the other areas of the district۔ (Dawn)
