    ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Mr. Shafqat Mahmood chaired a meeting on Education related initiatives with the team lead by Mr. Usman Dar, Special Assistant to PM on Youth Affairs. Senior Officials of Education Ministry and representatives from Higher Education Commission and NAVTTC also attended the meeting. Federal Education Minister was briefed about the various Education related initiatives under the Prime Minister Youth Program. Mr. Usman Dar said that as per the vision and direction of the Prime Minister Imran Khan we are launching a number of projects for the youth of Pakistan. He informed Shafqat Mahmood that they are launching PM Special Skilling Pakistan Project that aims at providing skill training in High end technologies and Traditional Crafts to 100,000 people. He further said that Prime Minister’s Startup Pakistan program will be launched shortly that will support 1 million students in starting up 10,000 ventures. “We are also launching National Employment Exchange Program that will be a technology based platform for bringing the unemployed youth in contact with the employers & that will enable integration and alignment of demand and supply to join the employment sector into an interactive system for easy access to employment opportunities, placement, facilitation and monitoring”, added Usman Dar. He said that these projects involve many ministries and departments but the role of education ministry is pivotal to the success of the aforementioned projects. Mr. Shafqat Mahmood appreciated the various projects that are in pipeline for the youth and said that the education ministry and its concerned departments for the said projects will work closely and will extend full support for the successful implementation of the projects. He said that we have setup National Curriculum Council that is working on designing Uniform National Curriculum and Traditional Skill Training and High end technological training will be incorporated in the curriculum and skill training will be introduced from schools. He also directed the representative of HEC during the meeting to establish incubation centers and startups in all the universities to encourage and support the young entrepreneurs. He further said that NAVTTC is already working on Skill Development and has designed a plan to be implemented for imparting skill training to the youth in schools and skill training institutes. “NAVTTC should also work for setting up startups in selected TVET institutes”, added the Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training. Mr. Shafqat Mahmood also nominated a 3 member team comprising of one representative each from Higher Education Commission, NAVTTC and Federal Education Ministry as focal persons for full scale collaboration with team of Mr. Usman Dar for implementation of the very important projects for the youth.
