PSL matches to be played in Peshawar: Naqvi-CM meeting decides
PESHAWAR (APP): A high-level meeting was held at Corps Headquarters Peshawar to review the overall security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.
The meeting was attended by the Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi, National Security Adviser, the Corps Commander Peshawar, as well as senior civil and military officials.
During the meeting, tribute was paid to civilians and personnel of the security forces who were martyred in terrorist incidents, says a communique.
It was decided in the meeting that PSL (Pakistan Super League) matches scheduled for this year will be held in Peshawar.
The meeting decided that the provincial government’s administrative system will be immediately implemented as a model in the Malakand Division under the supervision of the provincial police and other provincial institutions.
Subsequently, this successful model will be implemented in phases in the affected districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly Khyber, Orakzai, and Kurram.
It was decided to establish a special sub-committee under the leadership of the Chief Minister to ensure effective monitoring of all development projects initiated in these districts and to review any military operations. This sub-committee will hold review meetings on a monthly basis.
The special sub-committee headed by the Chief Minister will include elected public representatives, the Corps Commander Peshawar, Chief Secretary, the Inspector General of Police, provincial officials, and representatives of federal institutions.
The meeting decided that, in addition to monitoring governance and development projects in these districts, the special sub-committee will create opportunities for alternative employment to ensure sustainable income for the local population.
The committee will also make effective arrangements to address the issues of temporarily displaced persons.
Through effective coordination between the federal government and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, complete harmony and a unified stance will be ensured on key policy matters to address the critical issue of terrorism.
Sustainable employment opportunities will be created to prevent extremist thinking among youth and to promote positive attitudes.
The meeting decided to continue strict action against illegal activities such as illegal SIM cards, explosives, and extortion. In addition, phased profiling of non-custom-paid vehicles will also be given due attention.
