    KP Government signs agreement with China Co. of 225MW CCG at Hattar

    PESHAWAR: KP Government signs agreement with China Energy Engineering Investment Corporation for the development and establishment of a 225 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine at the Hattar Special Economic Zone

     

    – Rs. 100 billion investment from Industrialists and generation of 100,000 Direct & Indirect Job Opportunities is expected at Hattar Special Economic Zone.

     

    The GoKP had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with CEEIC (subsidiary of CEEC) at Peshawar, for the development and establishment of a 225 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine in Independent Power Plant (IPP) or any other mode that mutually agreed upon at the Hattar Special Economic Zone, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In pursuance of the MOUs signed, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after deliberations signed an engagement agreement with the CEEIC to develop 225 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Power Plant. The agreement was signed by Adil Salahuddin, interim Chief Executive Officer, KPEDMC on behalf of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Mr. Zou Jiawei, Deputy Director Pakistan, on 30th January 2018 at CM House, Peshawar. CEEC is a state owned enterprise by the Government of the People’s Republic of China with relevant experience and capacity. It has installed over 160 GW electricity, ranking first in the world. It is also ranked 391 in fortune 500 companies.

     

    Hattar Special Economic Zone will have industries like Pharmaceutical, Textile, Food & Beverages, steel and various engineering related industries. This initiative by the Government of KP will provide direct & indirect job opportunities to 100,000 locals of the region once the SEZ is fully colonized. Investment of Rs. 100 billion is expected by industrialists from Pakistan and abroad. Online applications for HSEZ is open and applications for more than 1200 acres has already been received.

     

    The ceremony was attended by CM KP, Chairman KP BOIT, Secretary P&D and representatives from KPEZDMC and CEEC. CM KP, Mr. Pervez Khattak said ‘this is another milestone achieved by the Government of KP. This project will bring prosperity in KP by providing much needed energy resulting in industrialization and hence job opportunities.

     

    The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is working towards bringing about a conducive and enabling environment for investment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In order to build upon its natural strengths, KP Economic Zones Development & Management Company is currently working on development of Special Economic Zones across the Province to promote industrial growth.
