    By Zahiruddin

CHITRAL: In the meeting of district polio eradication committee (DPEC) held here on Friday with Chitral DC Irshad Sodhar in the chair, a number of decisions were taken regarding the national immunization days (NIDs) scheduled for the month of January.

The district health officer, Dr. Rahman Afridi and coordinator of EPI, Dr. Fayaz Roomi reviewed the shortcomings and issues raised during the last special NIDs held in November last as detected in six union councils of Sheshi Koh, Broze, Denin, Drosh I, Drosh II, Garam Chashma and Ashirat.

The meeting was also apprised of the actions taken against the concerned officials for the failures and the measures taken for removing the faults in the system impeding the success of the campaign as per standards.

Fake reporting about the NID results were also mentioned by the two officers of the health department who have recently assumed their respective charges of offices and said that no official will afford a chance to give a counterfeited information or data in the coming campaigns.

Giving examples of inflated and false reported figure, they said that in some instances, the reported figures accounted for as high as 103 percent coverage which was virtually not possible.

The meeting decided to hold extensive trainings and meetings for sharing the micro-plan for the upcoming campaign  for the area incharges (AIs) and union council motoring officers (UCMOs) while the lack of such trainings and meetings in the past campaigns contributed to the failures.

Chitral DC Irshad Sodhar directed all the AIs and UCMOs to share their daily visit photos on the official whatsapp on the same day which will reflect their performance on one side and will exclude the chances of fake reporting on the other.

He said that the officers and officials entrusted with duty in the NIDs will have their salaries stopped or forfeited if they showed any kind of laxity in discharging their duties and zero tolerance will be shown in this regard.

In this occasion, different union councils were entrusted to  senior officers of health department and district administration for pre-campaign monitoring to make the NIDs successful and leave no chances of failure in any degree.
