CHITRAL: Chief justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar has said that no compromise or laxity is possible on the preservation of water in the country where the commodity was running out rapidly while we are duty bound to give a legacy of heavy reservoirs of water to our future generation instead of Rs. 170000 foreign debt on their birth.
Addressing the district bar association here on Saturday, he highlighted the importance of the conservation of water and without mentioning the two dams for which donations were being collected, he urged upon the people to rise to the occasion and do their level best to make the projects possible.
“It is the passion of patriotism that works and the day it is awakened, all the issues and problems faced by the country will peter out and we will be able to free ourselves from the yoke of foreign debt which has put our very security in question.
Integrity and uprightness are the most sought-after attributes for us as a nation which can derive us safely from the morass of issues which are multiplying day by day and once we renounced corruption and started despising the corrupt and the corruption, then journey of our progress and prosperity will start and we must start the process from ourselves and our homes”, he said.
He said that the foes of the country knew that they cannot subdue it by application of force and to achieve their nefarious ends of weakening the country, they took to the ruse of creating schism in it and divide the people on many flimsy ground.
“The patriotic people are aware of all such evil designs and make it a failure while it was heartening and inspiring to see the high degree of patriotism among the people of Chitral who are known for fidelity and devotion to the country”, he added.
Regarding the importance of cordial relations between the bar and the bench, he said that as a judge, he has never differentiated between the two as both the ultimate end of both the two was to dispense justice to the people and both they were like the different organs of the same body.
Coming hard on the successive governments in the past over the poor state of road infrastructures in Chitral district, he said that it was highly disappointing that the area has been kept backward where there basic facilities are not available.
“The roads in 21st century in Chitral valleys are those which can only support mules and this is tantamount to denial of basic rights of the people of this area as provided in the constitution of the country”, he said adding that he was going to take a judicial action against this poor state of affairs.
He said that equal opportunities of development were constitutional right of all the citizens of Pakistan and keeping a certain area backward and subjecting it to discrimination was intolerable.
Regarding the opening of Lowari tunnel for the public transport round the clock, he said that seemingly there was no reason for closing the tunnel for the people but he had directed the chairman of National Highway Authority to give him full explanation about the matter.
The CJP gave a three month’s time to the government for making up the deficiency of specialists, general duty doctors, medicines and equipments of the DHQ hospital which he had earlier visited.
On the demand of the lawyers’ community, he directed the Peshawar High Court chief justice to regularize the hearing of division bench and single bench in Chitral as per volume of the pending cases.
Later on, the chief justice of Pakistan, visited the Kalash valley of Bumburate before leaving the district by road after completing his three-day visit.
