FIA conducts major operation against hundi/hawala, arrest two accused: Spokesperson
PESHAWAR (APP): In what officials describe as largest hawala/hundi crackdown in the history of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) conducted a major raid near Chakdara Toll Plaza in Malakand district and arrested two accused.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the operation was carried out on May 5, 2026, under the supervision of Assistant Director Muhammad Naseer, following confidential intelligence.
During the raid, two suspects identified as Muhammad Imran and Usman were arrested.
Authorities recovered a substantial amount of cash totaling Rs. 250,394,000 (over 250 million rupees) from their possession.
Officials said that key evidence related to the illegal hawala/hundi network was also seized during the operation.
The spokesperson said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects were involved in unauthorized financial activities without approval from the State Bank of Pakistan.
A case has been registered against the accused, and further investigations are underway.
The FIA spokesperson reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against financial crimes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, vowing to continue indiscriminate action against those involved in illegal monetary operations.
