    GB development tops priority of Govt: Amir Muqam 

    SKARDU (APP): Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, Engineer Amir Muqam, said here Friday that the development of Gilgit-Baltistan is the government’s foremost priority. 

    He said that projects like road construction, solarization, and Daanish Schools are progressing, putting the region on the path to growth and prosperity.

    The Government of Pakistan is taking practical steps to empower youth, and the “Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme” is an important initiative in this regard, helping students align with modern requirements.

    Federal Minister Engineer Amir Muqam was addressing the ceremony of the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme as the chief guest at the University of Baltistan, Skardu. A large number of attendees, including the Vice Chancellor, faculty, male and female students, and distinguished guests, were present on the occasion.

    In his address, Engineer Amir Muqam said that the establishment of the University of Baltistan was a valuable gift to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan by former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. He added that it has played a key role in promoting higher education in the region and providing local opportunities to youth. He appreciated the efforts of the university’s administration and faculty, stating that the institution has achieved a prominent position in a short time.

    Engineer Amir Muqam said that Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s vision is to equip youth with education, skills, and technology so they can compete at the global level. He urged students to use laptops not just as devices but as tools for their success.

    During his speech, he praised the leadership of the Prime Minister of Pakistan and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, saying that the national leadership has played an important role in promoting peace at the global level.

     He added that Pakistan has made effective diplomatic efforts as a responsible state, and that the respect of the green passport is once again being recognized.

     He said that success in the “Battle for Truth” has sent a clear message to the world about Pakistan’s capabilities, determination, and sovereignty.

    He also paid tribute to PM Youth Laptops Program Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, stating that under his leadership, the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme has become a ray of hope for young people.

    Earlier, upon arrival at the university, Federal Minister Engineer Amir Muqam received a warm welcome.

    The Vice Chancellor briefed him on the academic performance of the institution, and the Federal Minister also planted a tree on the university lawn.
