KP Opposition leader demands CM resignation on Swat tragedy
PESHAWAR (APP): Leader of the Opposition in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Dr. Ibadullah Khan, on Sunday said that the Swat tragedy has exposed Chief Minister Ali Amin’s insensitivity, and he should resign.
Speaking to the media during a visit to Swat on Sunday, Dr. Ibadullah Khan said that the massacre in the Swat incident holds the Chief Minister responsible, and an FIR should be registered against Ali Amin Gandapur.
He stated that people are chanting slogans demanding the Chief Minister’s resignation and condemning him.
He expressed sorrow, saying it was heartbreaking to witness a son asking his father and a wife asking her husband, “When will it be our turn?” Despite Swat being just 35 minutes from Peshawar, the Chief Minister did not send a helicopter. Three people were saved by a local diver named Bilal.
The Opposition Leader added that they had asked for an assembly session to be convened, but the Chief Minister instructed the Speaker to end the session to avoid debate on the matter. “We will submit a requisition, and members from Swat will sign it,” he said.
Dr. Ibadullah further said he would stand with the people of Daska and Mardan and urge them to file FIRs against the Chief Minister.
He said suspension of few officers cannot compensate for the humans loss.
He also claimed that PDMA (Provincial Disaster Management Authority) vehicles are being used by MPAs (Members of Provincial Assembly) and people were left alone during emergencies.
