    By Zahiruddin

CHITRAL: MNA from Chitral Shahzada Iftikharuddin has said that for the all is set for the provision of liquefied petroleum  gas (LPG) through pipelines for the first time in Chitral by next month as the federal government has released compensation money for purchase of land where gas plants will be planted.

Talking to the local media on telephone from Islamabad here on Tuesday, he said that the purchase of land for the plants was one of the hurdles  for want of funds and now with the provision of the much needed compensation amount the plants and machinery  will be mobilized from Rawalpindi to Chitral within two to three weeks.

He said that the district administration has been directed to complete the codal formalities within no time with the reception of the land compensation from the federal government to avert any further delay.

The MNA said that the officers of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) had already visited Chitral a number of times to select the land for the project and had selected suitable land for the purpose.

Highlighting the importance of the project, he said that more than 15 thousand households will get LPG through pipeline with the commissioning of the project at the same rate which a consumer of SNGPL gets in Peshawar and it will change their quality of life for better.

He said that as directed by the former  prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, it has been decided to provide subsidy of 67 percent to the consumers and it will save a large amount which a  household spent on fuel wood every year thereby raising their standard of living.

He said that the prime minister will visit Chitral to inaugurate the project which was first of its kind in the province.

In the winter season, the short supply of gas cylinders popped up with the closure of Lowari Pass and hundred percent households depended on firewood and the high demand further raised the prices of wood abruptly.

Shahzada Iftikhar said that on the special directives of the former prime minister Mian Nawaz Shairf in Aguust this year, SNGPL is planning to provide the facility to the villages of upper Chitral by setting up plants at Kagh Lusht and Mastuj in the next phase.
